USEAGE OF A RECOVERY JACK

4X4s are generally heavier vehicles than the ones designed for regular use. Aside from the sheer weight, they are also designed to be taller vehicles to tackle deep and undulating terrain. This means that when it comes to servicing the underchassis or changing the wheels, a regular Jack will only go so far (or high,in this case). This is even more true when a repair or replacement has to be done on the trail.

Imagine damaging a tyre on a remote trail - maybe the tyre rolled on a sharp rock ridge and got slit, what would you do? Well, the answer is pretty straightforward; out comes the spare wheel to the rescue. All's well and good, but how do we lift the big Jeep off the ground, especially when the Jeep has such long travel suspension and the terrain is undulating and incondusive? Here is where the true utility of a Highlift jack comes to light. A Highlift jack does exactly what the title claims: it lifts the vehicle to a height greater than the run of the mill standard offered by the manufacturers. This height is valuable to offset the long travel shocks and make up for a ditch in which the wheel in question may be stuck.

Apart from these obvious advantages, a high lift jack usually is designed for the 4X4 sport - this means it can handle the weathering outdoors and handle the abuse for a long time to come. A 4X4 Highlift Jack comes with industry tested safety features, and has a long and traceable evolution starting from the Dakar rallies & the Rainforest Challenge.

At BlueGarage, we use these Highlift Jack's on our personal off-roading trips and have come to appreciate the value of having one on the vehicle. The feeling of safety and the confidence on a remote trail is worth every penny. As a purely utilitarian product, we thoroughly recommend the following products on all 4X4s:
